We invite enthusiastic journalists, undergraduates, graduate, postgraduate students, PhD holders, and academic professionals to be members of SDJF. SDJF memberships are given in the training and capacity programs conducted and coordinated by SDJF. Discount rates are offered to attend SDJF national and international seminars and conferences. SDJF works closely with various international media development organizations and any given opportunities that come up would be given to paid members. All paid members can vote and contest in the annual general meeting for Sri Lanka Community Media forums. Membership categories include:

Student membership holders must be a local undergraduate, graduate or post –graduate in any local or international university, media institution or higher education center. This type of membership will be given priority with regards to training programs, discussions, seminars and workshops conducted by SDJF and other organizations connected with SDJF. Members in this category will be given our publications on concessionary rates and allowed to use our library for free of charge. Other benefits are the same as other memberships.
Journalist memberships are open for the working journalists in the mainstream and community level. This type of membership will be given priority with regards to training programs, discussions, seminars and workshops conducted by SDJF and other partner organizations. SDJf actively look out for international training opportunities for active journalist members. Media trainers, advocators, and community media activists will be given this kind of membership.
Lecturers of those who are engaged in teaching and researching in the field of media and communication at the universities, higher education institutions, colleges and training schools will be given a membership under this category. Retired academic professionals and emerging researchers will come under this category too. The membership fee is relatively low for these professionals. Academic members will be given priority in research activities and panel discussions.
